Community Foundation of Collier County Ups the Ante to $50,000 for the NCH Healthcare System Matching Grant Challenge

Posted on March 26, 2020

The Community Foundation of Collier County has raised the ante for the NCH Center for Philanthropy Matching Challenge Grant to bring the total match to $50,000 thanks to a $25,000 grant from William F. Allyn – Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund holder and NCH Healthcare System Board of Trustees member. This donation is in memory of his wife, “Pretty Penny” Allyn, who lived a life of caring for others.

NCH now has the opportunity to receive $100,000 in funding with the public’s help to provide critical resources, equipment, and supplies needed to support our doctors and nurses. Donations to the matching challenge will help provide additional ventilators, protective gear, mobile units, employee relief, and more.

William was also inspired to give by this quote from Fred Rogers of Mister Roger’s Neighborhood: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

The original $25,000 grant was provided from the Community Foundation’s Collier Comes Together Fund to address the Coronavirus outbreak as effectively as possible.

“It’s acts of kindness like these that really emphasize the power of community during such difficult times,” said Paul Hiltz, President, and CEO of NCH. “Our healthcare system is extremely grateful for the foundation’s generosity. It will go a long way toward helping our incredible staff during this crisis.”
