Now entering its eighth year, the very successful Junior Women of Initiative (JWOI) mentoring program will be expanding in several ways. The first change will be the number of sessions that we will be presenting, and the second is a greater number of young ladies will be included in the program.
Mentoring sessions have usually been held December through April in years past. This coming year, we will begin in November and run the program through the first week of May ending with our celebration dinner. With more sessions and more girls comes the need for more mentors.
This past year, we had 23 women who volunteered their time to meet a minimum of three times during the entire mentoring program. I am estimating that we will need at least 30 women this coming year to accommodate the schedule.
Mentoring sessions are held twice a month, usually on Mondays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Mentors need not worry about attending every session, we know that everyone is busy during season and that calendars fill up quickly -- that is the reason we have tried to make it easy to mentor.
